Isabella's Field Study

(Here I am pondering meticulously about all the ways in which nature loves balance, especially symmetry, yet rarely manages it.)   Field Notes Date:  November 28, 2022 Time:  4:50 p.m. Temperature:  44° Climate Conditions:  Sun was shining through, pretty calm, no breeze  Length of Day: 9  hours 33 minutes  What I Heard:  The rushing water, the buzzing of the electrical towers.  What I Noticed:  The water had risen quite a lot, I'm assuming because of melted snow.   There was this plant that had turned purple, which I have never seen before This one was the only one that wasn't brown. I knew it had to be slowly turning purple because it was still brown towards the bottom.  There was a huge crane today in my spot! Right in the creek, but unfortunately as we approached, it flew away. Field Notes Date: Sunday November 14 Time:  1:36 p.m. Temperature:  36° Climate Conditions:  Windy, cloudy, snowing on and off  Length of Day:  9 hours 51 minutes What I Heard:  I heard  the buzzing of the phone towers as per usual, the wind blowing, and some birds overhead.  What I Noticed:  There was some snow on the ground, yet most of it had already melted by the time I went on Sunday (which I was disappointed by). Also, the eagle nest I saw a couple weeks ago is now gone. I wonder why it's gone, and if the nest "vanishing" was intentional or not.    I noticed that there were some snowflakes  that accumulated on leaves (like in the picture)   while the rest of the snow went on the ground and  melted. Field Notes Date:  October 30, 2022 Time:  12:02 p.m. Temperature: 56° Climate Conditions:  Partly sunny, hazy, no breeze.  Length of Day:  10 hours 24 minutes What I Heard:  I heard  the buzzing of the phone towers, birds, and could finally hear the creek babbling, all of these things I heard very clearly. Mostly because every time I visit my spot, it's windy or rainy, so it was nice to finally be able to appreciate the serenity of my little spot.  What I Noticed:  The pictures a little blurry, but as you can see, it changed so quickly over the past two weeks! You can see the sky for the first time because almost all of the leaves on the trees are fallen, and the leaves on the fallen curved tree are all gone and have been replaced with berries--- The berries that are now on the branches  I also researched why foam/suds continued to appear in the water. And I found that it's the natural result of decomposition of plants and animals....

Field Notes Date: October 15, 2022 Time:  6:31 p.m. Temperature:  51° Climate Conditions:  Cloudy (after it rained), sun was starting to appear, light wind, pretty chilly! Length of Day:  11 hours 6 minutes What I Heard: I heard a  lot of birds for the first time, and the buzzing of the phone towers.  What I Noticed:  Overall, the actual picture of my spot (above) looked the same. The leaves on the trees, as you can see, have not yet started changing colors. The water, however, seemed significantly higher/deeper than it had been for the past couple months.  .      There was these "suds" in  several areas of the water.  There were these berries (small red ones) that seemed to  have grown around the stream as I hadn't noticed them  before.  Very close to my spot (Kollen Park) is a nest for bald eagles that was very exciting for people about two years ago.  And today, much to my surprise, I saw two in...

Field Notes Date:  September 25, 2022 Time:  3:06 pm Temperature:  59° Climate Conditions:  strong wind, mostly cloudy Length of Day:  12 hours 2 minutes  What I Heard:  The wind blowing the trees (it was so loud I didn't hear anything else)   What I Noticed: Overall, I think that my above picture looks the same as the Field Study #1's picture, but  I noticed different, smaller changes. I saw a lot more frogs and grasshoppers in my spot today, which I find strange because both thrive in warmer weather.  Leaves were beginning to change colors (s ome were  fully changed color, like this red one in the picture),  and many more were in the creek.  Similarly  evolving  with the season, t he Canadian Goldenrod that I  observed my last field study have all died.  I noticed that a lot of the creek had new  green spots,  like in this picture.
